God is God Over All Hills & Valleys

I played guitar for the praise team at our church this past Sunday, and there was a new song (to me) that has stuck with me ever since I heard it. It is called Hills And Valleys, by Tauren Wells. Below is his testimony about how he wrote the song.

"When you are on the mountain tops of life learn to bow low;
when you are in the valleys of life, learn to stand tall."

This mimics so much the truth from an older song I sang many years ago and my group the Men of Mercy sing called, God on the Mountain. I can remember testifying at a church in southern Ohio I was serving as youth pastor, and had a similar revelation come to me. It was,

whether we are on the mountain or in the valley,
if we keep eyes on Jesus, we will never know the difference.

Tauren's lyrics communicates that truth much better, much more to the heart, of what I was hearing from the Lord.

So today, are  in you in the valley? Or are you on the mountain top?

Wherever you are, remember, God is God right there, His grace is sufficient for you, and keep your eyes on Christ--the Author and Finisher of your faith!

Praying for Revival Will Bring You to Reconciliation

I am continuing to chew on something one of my ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship): What if in our praying for revival it has actually brought us to a sphere of where reconciliation must be exercised? I see this is a wonderful discovery and in my heart I hear, DO NOT MISS THE TWO! They are part of each other. friends said about revival and reconciliation, which has brought me to ask:  Revival and Reconciliation.  Let me dig into this more with something simple: a triangle. There are three points to every triangle, but if you have it flat side down, two points go up to ONE point to meet.  There has to be ONE point we all see for revival to happen as we pray for it; ONE point that draws us all together and I believe that ONE point is GOD as revealed through JESUS CHRIST and attested to by His Word given to us in the Bible. As we all come from whatever point we are currently standing (two points of a triangle) we need a ONE point to bring us together. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up...

IN ESSENTIALS, UNITY

I just had a board meeting where I went over a study on the word "unity" and "divisions." The question that immediately came up was, "Well, Christians don't have to agree on everything...right?" My response went something like this, "Well, wouldn't we want to?" It hit the fan like a lead balloon, which is not at all what I had expected. I thought all of the other board members would be shouting, "Yes!" and giving me high-fives and chest bumps. Well, maybe not chest bumps at this age.  There were some other ideas, thoughts and opinions expressed, and I was like, "We just went over this study of like 25 verses that state we are to be unified and have no divisions among us. Why don't you get it?" Seems like I was the one who actually didn't get it. It wasn't that I thought my interpretations were wrong, the weren't. The question centered around their application. "How in the world are we to agree on e...

On the Knowledge of God

The knowledge of God is a vital part of the well-being of your life--spiritually and otherwise God desires for you to know Him, but even more, God desires to reveal Himself to you. The knowledge of God is hidden--you cannot just expect to gain it. You need to especially understand that many will say they have it when in fact they do not. However, those who truly know God have very specific things in common. The Word of God reveals to us the knowledge of God , but it isn’t the only place our knowledge of Him comes from. However, every other place we obtain our knowledge of God will never contradict the knowledge available to us in the written Word of God. When I speak of the knowledge of God, I attach the knowledge of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the knowledge of the Spirit of God--the holy Trinity, three in One, King of the Universe, and of my heart. Proverbs 2:5 tells us that your deepest respect for God , or the fear of the Lord, will accompany the knowledge o...
